Fussen

Phew, so after having lots of fun at the hofbrauhaus last night we got up bright and early to go see the castle in Fussen. To get there we had to hike 40 minutes up to the top of this big hill because the shuttle bus wasn’t running due to the snow (and apparently we’re all mountain goats who can do it). It was all so incredible, the amount of detail that went into some of the rooms. The castle was being built for 17 years, when the King died under Mysterious circumstances and construction stopped. Only 15 rooms were ever finished. The woodwork and paintings everywhere were so beautiful. Our guide said that 14 wood carvers worked for 4 years just to do the carvings in the king’s bedroom! Took lots of pictures on the outside, but of course you aren’t allowed to take any inside the castle (starting to get annoyed with places you can’t take pictures inside). So we stopped for some Brotwurst on the way down, headed back to the train station and are now just killing time in an internet cafe in Munich until our night train leaves at 11:30. Waking up in Venice tomorrow!
