Programming was so much easier in school!

Actually…well…kind of. Our assignments at U of T were really theoretically difficult, but at least you could ask a classmate or professor who already knew the answer if you got stuck. Also our programs always ran in a fabricated environment and just had to pass the automated tests that the TA’s wrote. We didn’t have to worry about any problems we couldn’t forsee.

Now I’m actually programming for stuff in the real world and uuuuugggghhhhh! There are so many minute details that normally I wouldn’t care about if this were an assignment, but now I have to spend hours on because there will actually be real people using this program.

The most annoying thing I’ve ever seen is that every internet browser uses a different standard for stylesheets, mouse events and god knows what else. Why is it so complicated?!?!?! It’s infuriating!
