Let the Christmassing begin!

Hallowe’en is officialy over and you know what that means… Oh yeah, it’s the beginning of the Christmas season! It is now officially acceptable to start putting up Christmas decorations, writing up cards and planning parties. So get on it! Last year I was away for Christmas, and you better believe that I’ll be making up for it double this year.

To get you in the Christmas spirit, here’s a little video from a few years ago (oh and you might want to go take a look at it right away, because there’s a good chance it’s going to be yanked from YouTube).

OMG I so remember this very memorable ad. So that was you!!!

Why do you think this will get yanked from YouTube? Sure, the copyright is not yours, but someone at Bell has to (a) care, (b) notice, (c) notify their legal, and (d) have legal who thinks it’s worth bothering sending a takedown notice.

Apparently going ape shit over copyright is the cool thing to do in the corporate world these days…

It’s not like me to defend corporate America in any way, shape, or form. However, in this case I have to point out that YouTube is a breeding ground for copyright infringement and the companies getting pirated are perfectly within their rights to prevent their product from being distributed for free. Fortunately for us artists out there, copyright law still has some balls in our culture. Yanking material like that, along with prosecuting people for illegally downloading music is a boon for artists, actors, photographers, producers, and countless other members of the industry.
