Err on the side of “douchebag”

June 27, 2007

Note to all women: We are now embracing the term “douchebag” to refer to guys that are worthy of it. Apply liberally.

Unfortunately, not all guys are like my one-month-perfect-relationship boy. There are a lot of douchebags out there. A lot. Especially in Los Angeles. I’ve learned recently, through my own experiences and experiences of my girlfriends that more often than not that the guys down here are somewhat dumb, manipulative, sleazy, and/or waaaaaaay too into themselves. This doesn’t have anything to do with lessons from the book. These guys will incessantly chase you, and may actually be into you, but are completely lacking in tact or actual charm. Or an understanding that a ring on your lefthand ring finger means “no go”. We’ve learned that the lesson here is, if you’re unsure whether someone is actually a good guy, if you’re in the greater Los Angeles area…err on the side of “douchebag”.

Pasadena City Hall

May 26, 2007

Pasadena city hall has been under construction since I’ve moved here and they’ve just recently finished and taken down all the construction fences. It was like a nice big present was just unwrapped for me and it’s gorgeous, so I took some pictures today. Unfortunately they still have the inside roped off, so these are only shots of the exterior.

BIG news!

January 24, 2007

I’m at the point right now where I’m pretty damn sure that all of this is actually going to happen, so it’s time to get blogging. Also, I’m way too excited to keep it to myself anymore.

I’m moving to California.

Are you still there? Still breathing? I did actually stop breathing for a few minutes when I heard about the opportunity. Rick wants me to work at another portfolio company that just happens to be in California, so I’m packing up my bags and going. It’s that simple. The timing couldn’t have actually worked out better if I had tried to plan it, after just having ended a 5 year relationship (again) and the lease on my apartment coming to an end at the beginning of March. So I’ll be leaving PlanetEye for now, travelling for about a month and then heading over to start with the folks at MusicIP.

I keep having these massive back-and-forth moments between sheer, absolute panic and just chilling out, thinking about how cool this is going to be, not worrying much about anything, with the idea that everything will just work itself out. That part of me might end up getting me into a lot of trouble 🙂

Did I mention that I’m going to Thailand? That’s the travelling that I’ll be doing. It was next on my world travel list, and the flight from LAX is considerably cheaper than from Toronto, so I’m taking off in a week or two.

How much does life ROCK right now!?!?
